Blue Skies Forever

FR En 2016, Beyoncé lance son clip vidéo « Hold up ». Celui-ci présente de multiples analogies avec l’œuvre vidéo de Pipilotti Rist, « Ever is Over All » (1997). Fasciné par les différentes représentations de femmes dans les vidéos, buren travaille autour des deux personnages de « Ever is Over All »: Dorothy, d’après « Le Magicien d’Oz » et l’agente Officer. Dans un jeu associatif onirique, avec imagination et humour, ces personnages sont représentés, transposés, dissociés et réassociés. Les créatrices de buren, dont les spectacles oscillent entre performance, théâtre et arts plastiques, esquivent les clichés autour de la femme qui dominent encore à ce jour les représentations féminines.

EN In 2016, Beyoncé released her music video ‘Hold up’. This video shows multiple analogies with Pipilotti Rist’s video work ‘Ever is Over All’
(1997). Fascinated by the different representations of women in those videos, buren started working around the two characters in ‘Ever is Over All’: Dorothy, based on ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and the police officer. In a dreamlike associative game, with imagination and humour, these characters are represented, transposed, dissociated and re-associated. The creators of buren, whose shows oscillate between performance, theatre and visual arts, dodge the clichés about women that still to this day dominate female representations.
