This is the first stop of a journey through Europe undertaken by 35 artists of different disciplines and by theorist researchers (historians, philosophers, anthropologist). The ghost-town of Famagusta being their point of departure, these internationally renowned European artists – from Libyan to Belgium, from Turkey to Bulgaria, from France to Cyprus – propose original works (coming from productions of the last 2 years). Famagusta, a 40 000 inhabitants city, emptied since 1974 but kept in the same state, is like suspended in time; like all memory places, it is linked to the violence and heroism of our individual and collective modern stories. Artists and researchers propose, with a variable distance, echoes of this suspended space, whose impact power as well as melancholy have affected all the creators of somewhat utopist project. Jan Kopp will propose a scenography of all the elements of the exhibition and will work in partnership with the art students of Amiens. The artists of this project will also take part to the Tendance week. During that week, a special programme of performances, film projections and round tables will be proposed. A UPJV Research Center in Arts, Transat Video, Art Center of Nicosie and Maison de la Culture Amiens, with the help of the European 2007-2013 Culture programme.
