ORCHESTRE DE PICARDIE
Direction : Pascal Verrot

For this first concert in the Maison de la Culture, Pascal Verrot and the Orchestra of Picardie welcome the violinist Maria Chiche for a programme dedicated to Bacri, Saint-Saëns and Bizet. This young French violinist, nominated in 2004 and 2005 for the Victoire de la Musique (famous French award) in the Instrumental Revelation category, she was awarded Classical Revelation of the Adami at 21. Greeted by critics for her excellent performance (next to Vahan Mardirossian) in Johannes Brahms’ Sonatas for piano and violin, Maria Chiche performs on the most prestigious stages and is invited in many festivals in France and abroad.
Concerning this programme, the admirable Petites pièces ludiques for violin (literally Small entertaining pieces) by Saint-Saëns are quite famous, but this concert also proposes the romantic Concerto in B minor, which has elegance and panache and fits well with the tempestuous temperament of Miss Chiche. Then Nicolas Bacri’s Esquisse pour un tombeau (literally Sketch for a tomb) brings some shadow with its meditative strings. This programme of French music ends beautifully on Georges Bizet’s Symphony in C.

“This young musician from Marseilles is one of the strongest talents of French violin. Marina Chiche has a Russian soul and her violin too…”
J. Lukas - La Terrasse

“Marina Chiche’s violin sings and shines with ease and fineness.”
