ORCHESTRE DE PICARDIE
Direction : Jacques Mercier

This concert will begin with a Chinese song, since the guest is a Chinese conductor. This song, very popular in China in a Wu Zukiang orchestration for strings, will brilliantly directed by En Shao. Born in Tianjin, China, En Shao began piano at four and violin a year later. At 18, he started to work as composer, pianist and percussionist. In addition to a brilliant career in his country, En Shao received several important grants in Europe, won many prizes and then conducted the most prestigious orchestras of the world. Now, En Shao is the main conductor of the RTV symphonic Orchestra of Slovenia, musical director and main conductor of the Chinese Orchestra of Taipei and the principal guest conductor of the symphonic national Orchestra of China. Augustin Dumay, one of the most intelligent and refined violinists of the moment, will be next to him to perform Beethoven’s great Concerto in Di major. Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Symphony n°5, invigorating and warm pastorale that is one of the most representative works of the British master’s universe, will finish this beautiful evening.

“Augustin Dumay is a new enchanter: precise, shimmering and singing. With a remarkable coherence and a great elegance, he allows himself moments of emotion of exceptional interiority.” Xavier Flament - Le Soir
