Chorégraphie Michèle Anne De Mey

Hail, storm, rain… Snow! The new black and white creation of the Belgian choreographer Michèle Anne de Mey dives into the heart of natural elements and makes the dancers’ bodies confront their apparitions and their impetuosity, like a parable questioning man’s place in the universe. An ode to nature and its luxuriance is displayed, a sort of wild pantheist fresco with scattered saving lulls. Michèle Anne de Mey chose for this risky adventure the legendary Ludwig van Beethoven’s score: the Seventh Symphony. The score has a 4-part structure, like the four seasons… Michèle Anne de Mey explores the dark and sometimes terrifying nets of the wild with imagination and enchantment. In this wide torment, the telluric choreographer offers a vibrant ballet with multiple assemblages. This show is like a dreamlike pagan celebration for art’s sake and for people, who definitely need it!

“Blonde, pale, (…) Michèle Anne de Mey likes to dance in the sun. She has schoolgirl attitudes and rustic joys that make her consider the world with a temper only lightly touched by melancholy”. Le Nouvel Observateur
