Creation is at the heart of the Maison de la Culture of Amiens activities. The MCA is a place for artists, a place for creation, production and diffusion in the fields of live show, fine arts and cinema.
The MCA is open to all and it offers a cultural action project giving each one the possibility to discover and share the programme.

At the service of the audience
To book seats for a group (school children, students, workers’ councils, associations…)

But also to:

  • Organize meetings with the artists of the season,
  • Attend public rehearsals,
  • Visit the MCA,
  • Organize training courses of artistic practices with the companies invited,
  • Host season presentations and/or shows for your group in a privileged way
  • Seize the opportunity of a musical season centered on singing and meet the artists before the shows,


 

TEACHING AND ARTISTIC EDUCATION

You are a teacher and you wish to come with your pupils?
From primary schools to high schools, from artistic classes to technical or agricultural schools, the Maison de la Culture d’Amiens works in close partnership with its artistic staff to sensitize students and to help them discover live shows, cinema and visual arts.
To go further, we can provide artistic classes to complete your educational and cultural project:
Preparation of students before school shows, with possible help from artists, creation of educational files, lending of video and iconographic documents, training courses, meetings with artistic staff, and much more…


Cinema tickets à la carte
Films programmed at the cinema Orson Welles can be played just for your students during school time.

Partnership with the education office

  • Training courses of continuing education for teachers are regularly organized (within the frame of the Academic Plan of Formation).Help of an education service:
  • Two teachers on secondment from the education office of Amiens run the education service to be closer to your educational concerns.
    The Strapontin informs you of the news concerning teachers (teaching practices, rehearsals…). You can receive this bulletin of information freely on simple request.

The Maison de la Culture d’Amiens is in partnership with:

  • “Departmental Plan for Cultural Development”, coordinated by the General Council of Somme, for schools.
  • “Sport and Culture Passport”, launched by the General Council of Somme, for schools.
  • “Cultural Passport” and “Picardie Courses Cards”, coordinated by the Regional Council of Picardie, for high schools and apprentices.
  • “School and Cinema” and “High School and Cinema”, coordinated by the ACAP.

HIGHER EDUCATION

In partnership with higher education establishments, the MCA proposes artistic courses: presentation of programme, meetings with artistic staffs, visits, access to rehearsals, workshops, conferences…

Students associations
The MCA has established privileged links with students associations in order to encourage their coming to shows and to provide necessary documents to help their communication.
You can share your pleas and projects with the MCA.

Advantageous access
Within the framework of our collaboration with the cultural service of the Jules Verne University and the CROUS, students benefit from a discount when buying their MCA card. They also benefit once a term from a €3 ticket thanks to the support of the Regional Council of Picardie (shows mentioned in the booklet).
For the whole programme, group bookings can be made for 10 students and more.
Privileged partnerships
The Art faculty and the MCA share close relationships – a partnership convention has been established since 1998 – like for the organization of meetings mixing bases of academic researches and artistic words. Links have also been created with the Superior School of Art and Design and the Sup de Co Group Amiens/Picardie.

ASSOCIATIONS / WORKERS’ COUNCIL

The MCA can help your association or council choose shows

  • by providing documents to improve your communication.
  • your association can also benefit from group rates on the whole programme during priority period (fidelity card and usual ticket office) and on the cinema Orson Welles.
  • finally, the MCA can organize a special presentation of season only for your group.


Partnership with Musicaa, Regional Conservatory of Amiens
The MCA and the Conservatory of Amiens work together to help young musicians, dancers and actors confront with the world of professional creation. In addition to a preferential rate, several meetings will complete their formation.

Theatre
At the occasion of the opening of a doctorate section, drama students will present, one Monday a term, their works at the Maison de la Culture: December 14 on Vaudeville; March 22 on shows for a young audience and May 17 on Elizabethan theatre. Those events are open to all. In addition to David Beaucousin and Jérôme Wacquiez’s teaching, the students will be able to work during this season with Marcel Bozonnet, Benjamin Lazar and, sometimes, with artists of the season.

Dance
Workshops and meetings with dancers and choreographers performing at the MCA are organized for Conservatory students.

Music
The Chausson Trio will perform twice in the department. At this occasion, a master class will be organized for chamber music, stringed and piano students.

Writing group of the Petit Prince Library
 A group of writing and reading was created in this library. Its members will review several shows and their critics will be posted on our website.

Fight against handicap. A EDF Foundation and MCA project
Within the framework of its action for improvement of life conditions of the disabled, the EDF Foundation (member of the Enterprises Club) organizes with the MCA a dance training course destined to visually disabled people. In partnership with associations of Amiens, a group of about ten persons will discover contemporary dance with Matthieu Burner, dancer and choreographer. Planned on ten sessions, this project will end on the presentation of the accomplished work.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
The MCA continues the creation of continuing training courses destined to artists living in Picardie. In partnership with Live Show in Picardie, a fortnight training course is proposed by the choreographers Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten. Other projects are still being studied.

MONDAYS AT THE MCA
In order to keep thinking about the big issues in our society, the MCA proposes, in partnership with the bookshop Martelle, the Jules Verne University, the Enterprises Club and other partners, conferences-debates on evenings, with qualified guests.
